Both Jean and Steven were awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, Ca.Jean has been a scholarship recipient and a studio coordinator at Pilchuck Glass School. In 2001 Jean designed the Centerpieces for Pilchucks Annual Gala AuctionSteven has worked as a gaffer and glass blowing assistant in Oakland, Berkeley and Richmond, California.The couple currently live in Sonoma, Ca.
Salatino and Gandolfo's brightly colored monochromatic vessels are abstract designs, yet their shapes are suggestive of leaves, flowers, starbursts, and seed pods. The couple spends their free time working in their California garden, and their reverence for the outdoors is apparent in their work. Each piece is meticulously carved and polished, revealing the brilliance of the glass and celebrating its relationship to light.
