This beautiful decorative sculptured object is a spectacular example of a chalice top. It features an antique hand-hammered and engraved sterling silver cover. This cover could be used not only for preserving food before eating but also as a decoration for the food placed underneath it. It could be used, for instance, with desserts or butter. I believe this cover was originally designed for the top of a chalice, which is currently missing. It truly showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of a silversmith. Measurements are 4 1/2 inches tall and 5 1/8 inches wide. The condition is excellent.
